Yes, summer is over and Fall means it gets darker earlier and then, it gets lighter in the morning later. Daylight Saving Time 2026: When the Clocks Change

However, we still are still in September but that full moon lighting up your night is the Harvest Moon which has been full the last few days and is still full on Sept. 28, 2026.

It’s logically called “harvest” because of farmers’ schedules. The Full Moon nearest the autumnal equinox was last week on September 22 in time for pulling in some of the crops. However, if your sky was clear you likely still saw it last night.

Other names listed in the Almanac are “Corn Moon, Barley Moon, Wine Moon, Singing Moon, Falling Leaves Moon, Nut Moon and Snow Goose Moon.”

The Farmers Almanac  says the moon’s bright moonlight near the equinox extended the working day for farmers gathering corn, pumpkins, squash, and beans before the first frost.”

But here in the Midwest in 2026 that first frost might come later given our unseasonable warmer weather.
