Watching Eureka Day at Citadel this past weekend, the Tony Award winner for Best Revival in 2025, reminded me of my time as a school board member first at a suburban elementary district than at a high school district.
But. no matter how you feel about parenting or our schools you are likely to appreciate Eureka Day, on stage at Citadel Theatre in Lake Forest, IL, now through Oct. 11, 2026.
Written by Jonathan Spector, it is very funny while also enlightening as to some of the challenges that face school boards, public or private.
Directed tongue firmly in cheek by Scott Westerman who piloted “Misery” and “The Mousetrap” at Citadel, the play opens audience’s eyes to some of the expectations of educated parents and society in general.
Funnily or oddly enough considering what the current US administration’s health director has been arguing, the board of Eureka Day’s school has vaccination and communication issues on the agenda.
